About Will

Professional football player William Oluremi John was born on June 13th, 1985 in Overland Park, Kansas. William started playing soccer at the age of three following in the footsteps of his father, Emilio John, who played professionally in the U.S. and also represented the Nigerian national team.

William started his soccer career playing for Rockhurst High School, where he holds the single season scoring record of 36 goals. After high school, William attended Saint Louis University where he was named First Team All American. He went on to become a Generation Adidas Player and was drafted in the second round to the Chicago Fire in 2005. He was later traded and played for his hometown club, Sporting Kansas City (then known as the Kansas City Wizards). After three years in the MLS, William left to play for a host of European clubs, including Randers FC (Denmark), Cukaricki Stankom (Serbia), Azal PFC (Azerbaijan), and RoPs Rovaniemi (Finland), where he competed in the UEFA Europa League. In addition to his professional club experience, William was called up to the U-14, U-16, U-20, and U-23 USA National Teams, including the 2005 Youth World Cup in Holland.

William is the first American to play in the Premier Leagues in Morocco and Azerbaijan. He is the first player in the Azerbaijan Premier League’s history to win three “Goal of the Month” awards in a single season and finished the 2013-2014 season as the leading goal scorer on his team, AZAL.

William is conversationally fluent in 8 languages and is also an elected member of the U.S. Athletes’ Council.

William’s experience in football has encouraged him to pursue more. He is the CEO and founder of GOLUREMI LLC, a company dedicated to educating and expanding knowledge of the game to kids and young players all around the world. The company currently produces and displays its content on YouTube.
